Orangetheory’s “Strength in Numbers” program offers a unique and exciting specialty workout. On Orangetheory Strength in Numbers Day, all Orangetheory Fitness studios will conduct a distinctive 3G template, focusing on strength and rep challenges across the treadmill, rower, and weight floor.
One notable feature of “Orangetheory Strength in Numbers” Day is the global rowing challenge, where row distances are recorded, fostering a sense of community and healthy competition.
Let’s break the Orangetheory Strength in Numbers workout
Strength on the Treadmill: The Hill Challenge
The “Strength in Numbers” event puts your endurance to the test with a hill challenge on the treadmill. Participants start with a 1% incline that increases by 1% every 200 meters or 0.15 miles. This grueling block is structured into three four-minute rounds with a minute of walking recovery in between. It’s a strategic game; if you’re aiming for a high incline, it’s advisable to start faster and accumulate as much incline as possible early on. Pushing for a burst of speed towards the end of the four minutes can also help you reach the next incline level before time is called.
Strength on the Rower: The Global Rowing Challenge
Next, members face a 14-minute rowing block designed to contribute to a studio-wide challenge. The goal is to achieve the highest average distance, which is then placed on a global leaderboard. The rowing session is broken down into intervals of base to push rows for 90 seconds, followed by a surge to a push to all out for 30 seconds, repeated seven times. The final 30 seconds are an all-out effort. Even with the legs already taxed from the treadmill challenge, the sense of camaraderie fuels participants to row further and harder.
Strength on the Weight Floor: The Rep Challenge
On the weight floor, members are presented with a high-rep challenge consisting of exercises such as squat to calf raises, shoulder presses, reverse lunges, and bicep curls. The recommendation is to opt for lighter weights to maintain form and endurance throughout the high volume of reps. The floor workout is a true testament to muscular endurance and strength, with a high plank at the end of each round to catch your breath before diving into the next set.
